Illusion Connect Re Gameplay Overview

Illusion Connect Re is a turn-based anime strategy RPG where you lead a team of Illusionists into battle. The game combines tactical positioning, class synergies, and the unique Soul Bond Guide system to create a deeply strategic experience.

Turn-Based Combat

Battles are fully automatic once you deploy your team. However, victory depends on your pre-battle lineup configuration. Each Illusionist has a unique position in the formation: front, mid, or back row. Their abilities activate based on turn order, which is determined by speed stats.

The auto-battle system can be set to manual targeting for specific high-difficulty encounters. This is especially useful in Boss Raid Guide and Arena where target selection matters.

The Four Classes

ClassRolePositionCounter
AttackerSingle-target physical DPSMid/Back rowStrong vs. Sorcerers
GuardTank / Damage mitigationFront rowStrong vs. Attackers
HealerSustain / Shield supportBack rowStrong vs. Guards
SorcererAoE magic DPS / ControlBack rowStrong vs. Healers

The class triangle adds a layer of counter-play: Attackers beat Sorcerers, Sorcerers beat Healers, Healers beat Guards, and Guards beat Attackers. Positioning the right class against the right enemy can swing difficult battles. Our class-guide has a deep dive on each class's strengths and weaknesses.

Soul Bond Guide System

Soul Bonds are passive team-wide effects that activate when specific Illusionists are deployed together. For example, placing Yuki Onna and Miyuki in the same team grants +15% Critical Rate to all Sorcerer allies. These bonds define the metagame and drive team-building decisions.

For a complete list of Soul Bond Guide combinations, see our soul-bond-guide. For the best team compositions built around these bonds, check best-team-compositions.

Soul Bond Guide bonuses are additive, not multiplicative. Stacking multiple bonds that grant ATK% can lead to diminishing returns. Always check the stat sheet before finalizing your team.

Very important. Matching the right class against an enemy can give you a 25% damage bonus and reduce incoming damage by 15%.
Can I change my formation during battle?
No. Formation is set before battle. You can adjust your lineup between attempts, which is essential for difficult story stages and Arena defense.
